Springhill Vineyards

Springhill Vineyards are located on KY-55 just south exit 34 of the Martha Layne Collins Bluegrass Parkway.  I apologize for no photos but the weather was pretty bad the last time we visited in January 2013.

Springhill is a very nice facility with a nice giftshop and tasting room.  The people there have always been both friendly and helpful.  They do charge a small fee for a tasting.  The place has a rather large selection of wines.  They are all actually quite good but naturally we have our favorites.  We are quite fond of the "Prissy" Pomogranite wine.  Fruit wines can be a bit of a lottery, but Prissy delivers excellent flavor as well as great balance.  Another new favorite of mine is their Harvest Mead.  It is a still mead (non-carbonated).  If you are a mead fan, you need to give this one a try (even if you aren't a mead fan try this and you might become one!).  Many meads have an overwhelming spice flavor profile but not this one.  The spice profile is very subtle.  The flavor is great and the finish has just a hint of dryness.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
