Kentucky Wine

This may come as a surprise to some people, but in the past Kentucky was a leading producer of wines.  Today, there is a growning number of small wineries that produce some excellent wines.  You can click on the individual wineries in the navigation bar above to check out each winery we have visited.  We've only visited a small fraction of the wineries and already have our favorites.  Regardless of your taste in wine, we are certain that there is a Kentucky Wine that fits.

According to the 2014 "Vintage Kentucky" Winery Guide, there are now 68 wineries operating in Kentucky.  There is even an app available for iPhone and Android devices.  For the full story, check out the Kentucky Wine website by clicking here.

I should mention that we back up our statements with our wine glasses.  In 2012, over 50% of the wine we consumed was Kentucky wine.  That amounted to just under 3 cases (36 bottles) for our house.  In 2013, we polished off another 4 cases (48 bottles) of Kentucky wine.

We hope in 2014 to visit even more wineries and to sample their products.  We are already off to a good start having made first time visits to the Wight-Meyer Winery in Shepardsville in January and the Old 502 Winery in Louisville in February.
