Hobby Stock

When it became appearant the our 1990 Pontiac Sunbird UCAR was pretty much toast, we decided to step up and get into the Hobby Stock class.  At a lot of tracks this class might be called either "Street Stock" or perhaps "Sportsman".  The rules were kind of a mix of the two.  We found a decent car on RacingJunk.com and drove to North Carolina to pick it up.  Looking back I probably paid 500 bucks more than I should have, but the car was well constructed and not bent.  The car came with a manual transmission so if Chandra was going to drive it that would have to go.  We got the car in September 2004.  You can check out the car and our results season by season by clicking the navigation buttons above.

The Hobby Stock Class at Ona Speedway was a tough class.  The top cars were running within a few tenths of the Late Models.  The thing was that the LMSC's were running at 2400 lbs and on 10 inch tires while the Hobby Stock cars were at 3200 lbs and running on 8 inch tires.  While the LMSC's ran smoothly the Hobby cars were a handful.
